Dan Kilgus, President

Dan is the founder of D&K Electric and provides overall management of all operations and strategic direction for the company. “Keeping D&K up to speed on the latest technology and other advancements is an interesting challenge to me. I know how important it is to keeping us ahead of the competition.”

On a typical day, you’ll find Dan talking to customers and prospective customers, either on the phone or in person. Even though he is in “upper management” now, Dan believes it is critically important that he stay close to the needs of the customer and the realities of the job site.

For new projects, Dan works with D&K’s estimator to produce quotes or bids and then presents them to the client. For current jobs, he acts as project manager, coordinating crews and equipment to get the job done. “I find it very fulfilling to see a project reach a successful completion and know that it is meeting a customers needs.”

Like every owner of growing small business, he wears lots of other hats too, including general office management and oversight of the financials. “I feel a responsibility to my employees and their families, to ensure they have an opportunity to use their talents and make a living by being of service to our customers and our community.”

Outside of work, Dan holds a leadership role in his church (at the local and national level), which consumes a large amount of his free time. His favorite free time activity, however, is time with family. Sometimes, that includes fishing, which makes it even better!

Jenna Kilgus, Secretary/Treasurer

Being married to Dan, you might say Jenna has always been involved in the business. In her current role, she takes care of the books (accounts payable, receivables, payroll, tax payments, etc.) She works directly with the accountant in producing financial statements. Jenna also manages all the “little things” that keep the office humming.

“As a co-owner of the business, I enjoy being part of planning for the future of D&K. I like the process.”

Prior to working in the electrical business, Jenna worked as a registered nurse at a local hospital and then, when children came, focused on being a full time mom. But she has always done D&K’s books, a duty that grew along with the business.

“Become more and more proficient with bookkeeping is very rewarding. I’m also learning electrical contacting, which is an enjoyable challenge.”

Jenna’s free time is spent with family, especially with the increasing number of grandchildren. Hobbies include knitting, camping and traveling, something she does often as she accompanies Dan with his church leadership work.

Aaron Kilgus, Estimator/Draftsman/Safety Director

Although son of the company founder, Aaron didn’t just automatically join D&K. He made a conscious choice to come here vs his other options. “I saw this as an opportunity to help build the family business into something more than it was. D&K has an impressive history and great reputation, but I feel like we’re now entering into our most dynamic period of growth and advancement.”

Aaron is the company Estimator and enjoys the variety of projects. “Each job has unique challenges and circumstances to work through.”

He is also a skilled draftsman, drawing up electrical plans on AutoCAD. He enjoys watching a project evolve from initial design and materials list to a completed project.

As the company has expanded into larger and more complex commercial contracting jobs, safety ratings have become even more important. “We’ve always cared about safety, but I’m proud to have taken our focus on safety to a new, level.” As Safety Director, Aaron instituted a comprehensive safety program that has taken them from good to great. D&K Electric can boast of an enviable EMR rate.

Outside of work, he enjoys scuba diving, motorcycle riding (“my little escape from reality”), sports and being with friends and family.
